Can Bubble Tea Cause Kidney Stones

Drinking bubble tea in excess may increase the risk of kidney stones. Many bubble tea bases use black or green tea, which are high in oxalates. When oxalates bind with calcium in the urinary tract, they can form calcium oxalate stones , the most common type of kidney stone. The high sugar content in bubble tea also increases calcium excretion in urine, which compounds the risk further. (Source: nuhsplus.edu.sg)
