Who Made Bubble Tea

Bubble tea was created in Taiwan in the early 1980s, though the exact inventor is still debated. Chun Shui Tang tea house in Taichung claims that product manager Lin Hsiu Hui came up with the idea of adding tapioca pearls to iced tea during a staff meeting in 1987. Separately, Hanlin Tea Room in Tainan claims its founder Tu Tsong-he invented a version using white tapioca around the same period. (Source: nlb.gov.sg)
