Da Hong Pao Milk Tea Liho Woodlands Mart Review

First time trying Da Hong Pao tea, so I went in quite curious and a bit hopeful. I wanted a strong tea taste, the kind of milk tea that is gao enough to satisfy when you are craving a proper brewed tea drink, not just something sweet and milky. This Da Hong Pao Milk Tea from LiHO was interesting because it had a slightly floral taste that I did not really expect. Not bad lah, just different from my usual milk tea choices. I would not say it became an instant favourite, but it was still a good drink nevertheless.

I visited the LiHO outlet at Woodlands Mart on 7 June 2026, craving a nice cold drink. You know the kind, after walking around a bit, you just feel like getting bubble tea even though you do not exactly need it. I usually drink bubble tea around once a week, so I am not super hardcore, but I do enjoy trying different brands and flavours. For me, I do not mind any brand as long as the drink is decent and the tea taste is there. This time, LiHO happened to be convenient, so I decided to give their Da Hong Pao Milk Tea a try.

I ordered the large size, went for 25% sugar, and chose no topping. The drink came up to $4, which I felt was quite okay for a large milk tea, especially these days when bubble tea prices can climb quite fast once you start adding toppings. Since I wanted to focus on the tea itself, skipping toppings made sense. I was also quite neutral about having no topping, because sometimes pearls or jelly can distract from the actual drink. For this particular milk tea, I think no topping was the right choice.

The waiting time was quick, around 2 to 5 minutes, which is always appreciated. The crowd at Woodlands Mart was moderate, not empty but not chaotic either. Quite manageable, and I did not feel like I had to stand around forever. The staff also got my order exactly right, large size, 25% sugar, no topping. Small thing, but honestly, when you are very specific about sugar level and toppings, it is always nice when the drink turns out exactly what you asked for.

Taste-wise, the sweetness was a perfect balance for me. At 25% sugar, it was not bland, but also not jelak. I could still taste the tea properly, which was the whole point of ordering this drink. The tea base tasted like proper brewed tea or coffee style, not overly artificial or syrupy. That said, I expected Da Hong Pao to be a bit more robust and roasted. In my mind, I was imagining something deeper, more intense, more gao. This one leaned a little floral instead, which gave it a lighter and slightly more elegant profile.

If you are someone who enjoys floral teas, you might appreciate this more than I did. It had that gentle fragrance that lingers a bit after each sip. But if you are like me and you go in expecting a stronger, punchier tea flavour, then you might feel it is a bit softer than expected. The milk did smooth everything out nicely, and the drink was easy to finish. It just did not quite hit that super gao craving I had in my head.

I actually typed out my notes later on 9 June 2026 at 11:17am, and by then my impression was still quite clear. It was a pleasant drink, not disappointing, but also not something I would rush back immediately to reorder. I gave it a 3/5, which feels fair. It is a decent option if you are at Woodlands Mart and want a brewed milk tea that is not too sweet, especially if you enjoy a slightly floral tea profile.

Overall, LiHO’s Da Hong Pao Milk Tea was a solid, casual bubble tea pick. Quick service, correct order, reasonable price, nice sweetness level, and a clean tea taste. Just that for my personal craving that day, I wanted something more gao. Still, no regrets trying it. Sometimes bubble tea is not about discovering the best drink ever, but just about getting a nice cup to satisfy the craving. This one did the job.
